“Shake that body, party that bod
Shake that body, party that bod
Shake that body, party that body
Come and have a good time with G.O.D”

This week has been great for hip hop. Besides a ton of music being relases this week, we were also privy to the BET Awards which I only watch for the performances. DVR for the win! I was very surprised to see Kanye and Jay-Z at the awards!  I was recently browsing through my google reader and I noticed a video with Kanye addressing a hater. in the video you can hear a lady screaming out that he doesn’t have any talent. Kanye did what he does best, he talked with out  thinking. He stated “I’m Kanye West. That doesn’t make sense!” I immediately thought to myself, that Kanye is a crazy mofo.  Maybe the lady was talking to him maybe she wasn’t. He answered in typical Kanye fashion which I love and respect.  Kanye had another funny moment this week when Jay decided to Kanye him the way he did the beautiful Taylor Swift.

Although it was a joke, I am sure many said good for you Sir Ye! I couldn’t stop laughing since it seemed so unscripted. Kanye had a very good week in my eyes. Heck it was a good week for his Getting Out Our Dream music crew. Anytime Kanye has a good week, the rest of his crew will have one due to their ties. Below I pulled out a few lines that I will be screaming out like a non rapper when the track is on.

New God Flow: The Phat Perspective

new god flow, startup

This week Kanye had the internet buzzing with his latest release “New God Flow.” Kanye and Pusha T really showed up for this track! It got lots of listening time here at The Phat Startup, the discussions around this track will be endless until his next offering.

king push, new god flow, good music

Pusha T really went off on this track even though the 2nd verse seemed like a diss track. I wont lie, when I first heard that Pusha was with the GOOD imprint I did a triple take. I love Pusha T but didn’t think he would fit in, he rhymed “They said Pusha ain’t fit with the umbrella But I was good with the Yay as a wholesaler.” Man was I wrong, not only does he fit but he gives them a street hustlers edge. Having that edge gives them the street credibility they were lacking. Come on let’s be honest Big Sean does not add street cred to the GOOD imprint!  The great thing about Pusha is that he will put in the work to succeed next to someone like Ye. He has always stood out in the hip hop world but could never break into the mainstream culture due to his aggressive drug filled rhymes.

That’s why I loved the Shyne line in which he states “I came aboard for more than just to rhyme with him, Think ’99, when Puff woulda had Shyne with him.”  Hes not riding someone else’s fame, he wants to add value to it while building his own brand. These are the type of employees people love to hire!  Which leads to the line “A nick sold in the park then I want in!” That’s a true hustler statement. He wants multiple revenue streams and will do what it takes to take a piece of the pie. He wants in on all deals!

I guess that’s why he says “I believe theres a god above me, Im just the god of everything else!” That line is a line we should say to ourselves every morning while staring at the mirror. As entrepreneurs we must feel like we are god, since the negativity will surround us. People will try to get you to do the normal 9 to 5 gig because they do not understand your moves. As long as you understand what you are doing and have this attitude the worse of days will feel like they never happened. Got to gass yourself up, since others might not do it for you.

yeezy taught me, good music, kanye west

Kanye is someone that has gassed himself beyond belief, I’m sure Jay-Z taught him this. Much love and respect to both people! During the BET awards Kanye gave us a piece of this track and stated “Hold up, I ain’t trying to stunt, man
But these Yeezys jumped over the Jumpman.”

Great line but pure bs. No way has his sneaker line surpassed demand like the Jordans. Yes you have a better chance at winning the lotto then scoring a pair of yeezys, but the jumpmans track record speaks for itself. I like this line simply because it highlights that hard work can really pay off. Who would have thought Kanye would release a pair of sneakers that sneaker heads would go crazy over. Pretty big if you ask me. I still prefer my jays but big ups to Kanye for such an accomplishment.

When he rhymed “Went from most hated to the champion god flow, I guess that’s a feeling only me and Lebron know” I had to rewind it multiple times. Such a sick and motivational line. Lets not forget Kanye was hated as much as Lebron after that Taylor Swift moment. This was the talk of the world! Even Obama called Ye a jack ass! When you have the president of a country calling you a jack ass, then the title must fit. However, Obama did call him super talented. This just shows that you can be the most hated guy in the world but still be part of the elite. Just ask Lebron, people hate him but hes still is considered the best player in basketball at the moment. People will have to find another reason to hate him now that he finally got his championship ring. It’s like they say if you don’t have any haters, you must be doing something wrong.

Till this day, we have people that ask us about The Phat Startup and love to offer advice and help. The crazy part is that it is usually just talk.  Friends that said I want to do this that and a third never really showed up. So when Kanye rhymed “Naww man, mad people was frontin’ Aww man, made something from nothing Picture working so hard, and you can’t cut through” it really resonated with me. When starting any type of business, there will be times like this. Ask any entrepreneur and they have had this type of moment but have moved on to bigger and better things. The road to success is difficult, there are times when you feel like quitting after all your efforts have not really paid off. this is a constant feeling but when you have a strong support group you can quickly kill that feeling. At least until you hit the next obstacle!  Making something out of nothing has to be one of the best feelings in the world.

Which leads to the line “From working McDonalds, barely paying the car note. He even got enough to get his mama a condo.” This is all to common! Most success stories come from the hate people had while holding jobs like salting fries at Mc Donalds. I was one of those people. At 16 I sat behind the cashier register of Mc Donalds, telling myself, wait till I get my money right. I was car less, and could barely afford my MTA card. I did all to keep up too date with my sneaker collection, yup I had to keep my shoe game tight. The things we worry about at 16. After graduating college I bought my first home where my momma and I could rest our heads. Thankfully she didn’t take me up on that offer :)

We just started a new play list on spotify and would love suggestions. Let us know what you think!
